Ryan

I'm glad to see this search form added - it will make searching a lot easier. As I understand, some airlines do not release the upgrade class availability until a certain time prior to the flight departure (I think for AA it's 72 hours). Is this correct and if so, is there a single resource that defines these limitations for each airline?

Chris

For AA and other airlines the award and upgrade inventory is available from the date the flight is published.

The exception is AA X and R inventory which is only viewable 24 hours before departure.

Regarding this FAQ: "How often do Flight Alerts check for availability?"

and the response:

"We have a proprietary algorithm that we will adjust as we learn more from the requests for Flight Alerts that our subscribers make. Suffice it to say, the polling frequency increases as the departure date and time approaches."

What does that really mean? Are we talking once a day? Every few minutes?

Thanks!

Chris

As stated in the response you recieved, it changes, from several times a day at the outset to every few minutes as the flight comes closer to departure.

Tim

Thanks Chris. I guess my reason for asking is that I have an award search in there for a few limited days and it might make sense to have more optimal checking times, i.e. just after midnight in each US time zone, when held awards would expire, for example.

Just an idea!
